Restoration of sash windows in poor condition

The owners of this charming house in the centre of Breasted set out to restore their sash windows around the whole house.

A Google search led them to the MWM Matt Window Mate website in the initial stage, followed by a home visit by Matthew Paszenda.

“We had a total of 26 sash and case windows restored by Matt and his excellent team.

The windows were over 100 years old with several layers of flaky paint”

The windows were in very poor condition and the overall appearance needed to be improved.

It was very important for the house owners to preserve the original features, as well as ensure the windows were fully operative, draught free and would last them for many years ahead.

The timber sash windows received a complete renovation, including a complex refurb of the existing timber window boxes and sashes, windowsills, new sash cords followed by installing the unique draught-proofing system, which improves the energy efficiency of the windows by sealing up the gaps around to eradicate draughts and rattles.

The job was finished by replacing mastic pointing around all windows and carrying out final painting with contemporary Eggshell, "Off-White”, Farrow & Ball colour.

New period sash bars make the rooms even more attractive.

The homeownersare very happy with the final outcome:

“Wow, they have been brought back to life and look amazing.

Absolute experts in sash and case renovation”

An excellent, trustworthy company which I would highly recommend.

Thanks Matt."
