The homeowners wanted to protect the heritage beauty of their traditional stained-glass designs while significantly improving warmth, comfort and energy efficiency throughout their period home.

The original single-glazed windows suffered from draughts, condensation and street noise — common issues in period properties. The priority was to maintain the home’s authentic Victorian character while introducing discreet contemporary performance. We carefully removed each stained-glass panel, professionally restored and encapsulated it between double-glazed units. This specialist process retains every detail of the historic glass while providing the insulation benefits of modern glazing.
The result is a beautifully balanced upgrade that honours the original craftsmanship, reduces heat loss, improves acoustic comfort and maintains full conservation area compliance.

Those timber double-glazed stained-glass windows are beautiful, handmade, which combine the skills of traditional stained-glass with the benefits of double-glazing, providing the security and insulation of a double-glazed window whilst retaining the style and visual impact of a traditional sliding timber windows. A total of 10 windows across the home have now been replaced. All are finished in ‘" Wimborne White" Farrow and Ball.

The existing stained glass was removed from the old window frames and carefully restored in the studio. The original stained-glass was encapsulated glass between two layers of toughened safety glass.
