Double-Glazed Timber Sash and Case Window Upgrade in Bearsden | Period Home Restoration
Located in the popular residential area of Bearsden, Glasgow, this charming blonde sandstone semi-detached villa required a sympathetic upgrade to improve thermal comfort while retaining its elegant traditionally styled windows. The homeowners contacted MWM Matt Window Mate after their original single-glazed sash windows began to deteriorate, causing draughts, condensation and unnecessary heat loss.
To protect the building’s architectural character, we carried out a full replacement of the original windows with made-to-measure double-glazed timber sash and case units, carefully crafted to replicate the original detailing — including the stunning arched feature window at the front elevation. All new windows were finished in Farrow & Ball “Pointing”, selected by the client for a soft contemporary tone that complements the period stone façade.
A professional draught-proofing system was installed to reduce external noise, prevent heat escape and support lower energy bills. We also fitted high-quality brass hardware, blending modern performance with timeless period detailing.
