This spectacular residence on Stewarton Drive, Cambuslang is regarded as one of the finest and most handsome Victorian villas in the area. The property retains an exceptional range of original period features, beautifully balanced with a modern twist that reflects the homeowner’s individual style.
Bill and his family had lived for many years with common issues associated with ageing timber sash and case windows, including draughts, rattling, heat loss and significant areas of rot. Their goal was to restore comfort and warmth throughout the house while protecting the architectural integrity of this remarkable Victorian building.
After thorough assessment, the decision was made to carry out a complete restoration, supported by the installation of several new timber sash windows where structural decay was beyond repair. A total of 25 windows underwent comprehensive specialist treatment, together with a full refurbishment of the property’s original storm doors.
Specialist Craftsmanship and Complex Restoration
A wide range of restoration skills was required to achieve the level of finish and performance expected in a property of this scale. Our work included full sash and case renovation, exterior joinery refurbishment, precision adjustment, mastic pointing and installation of new bespoke windows where required.
During our complex restoration process, we completely remove all old paint back to bare timber, enabling full wood treatment and achieving a smooth, flawless and long-lasting finish. We also carried out a detailed structural refurbishment of the storm doors, preserving original heritage while significantly improving energy efficiency, comfort and security.
To complete the project, the windows were finished in Anthracite Grey (Dulux Trade), delivering a striking, contemporary modern edge while respectfully enhancing the timeless Victorian façade.
