An Impressive Detached Villa with Views Toward Stirling Castle
Located within a Conservation Area in the historic city of Stirling, this impressive blonde sandstone detached villa has been transformed with a complete replacement of its original single-glazed sash windows — expertly designed, supplied and installed by MWM Matt Window Mate.
The homeowners wanted to retain the elegant traditional character of their property while dramatically improving warmth, comfort and energy performance. Their existing windows were draughty, difficult to operate and offered very little insulation from external noise or Scottish weather.
Full Window Replacement for Improved Comfort and Performance
We carried out a full replacement of all original windows with made-to-measure double-glazed timber sash and case windows, handcrafted to match the traditional proportions and detailing expected in a Conservation Area. The new windows incorporate modern high-performance glazing, professional draught-proofing and smooth sliding functionality — delivering outstanding comfort while maintaining a traditional appearance.
To further enhance performance, we integrated a discreet Professional Weather Seal system, helping to:
-
reduce heat loss and retain warmth
-
lower energy bills
-
minimise noise from outside
-
prevent draughts and rattles
-
reduce dust and moisture ingress
-
ensure smooth and reliable daily operation
The transformation has made a dramatic difference to how the home feels — warm, quiet and beautifully finished throughout.
The homeowners shared: “We have been testing our new windows by opening and closing — something we couldn’t do before. It’s so much quieter and warmer.”
All new windows were completed in Farrow & Ball ‘Off-White’ Eggshell, chosen to complement the building’s original stonework and create a fresh, elegant look inside.
Exceptional Results That Protect Traditional Character
The result is a home that looks beautifully traditional from the outside but performs to modern comfort standards within. Views toward Stirling Castle can now be enjoyed without noise disruption, discomfort or heat loss — a lasting upgrade to the property’s value and liveability.
At MWM Matt Window Mate, we take pride in delivering beautifully crafted, energy-efficient timber sash and case window replacements designed to enhance traditional homes while respecting their original design.
