Renovation project for a B-listed Glasgow home
The owners of a beautiful B-listed property in the Conservation Area of Strathbungo, on Glasgow’s South Side, contacted us when their old windows began to show their age.
They considered replacing them with new double glazed units, but they didn’t want to compromise the original style of the house or fall foul of restrictions applying to a listed property.
We were able to offer advice on several options, including double glazing and replacement single glazed sash and case windows. In the end they chose to have their original windows restored, saving a considerable amount of money and preserving the architectural integrity of the house.
“Matthew talked us through what we were able to do in a B-listed property, explaining the pros and cons of each option and showing us precisely how much they would cost. We chose to have the original windows restored to their former glory - with the addition of draught-proofing strips, which are practically invisible. We’re delighted with the results as the renovated windows have retained all of their old character, but with greatly improved performance"
MWM’s experience with listed buildings was very reassuring, and the work was done to an impeccable standard. The place was left clean and tidy at the end of each working day, so there was very little disruption to our routine. We’d be delighted to recommend MWM - in fact, we’ve already done so!”
